What each status means
| Status | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Waiting for DNS | We can't see your CNAME yet, or the HTTPS certificate is being issued. | Check the record at your registrar; the Live check says exactly what it sees. |
| Live with HTTPS | Your site opens on your domain. | Nothing. |
| Paused | The yearly custom domain plan wasn't renewed. Visitors are sent to yourname.sitesfare.com. | Renew from Dashboard → Billing. It comes back by itself. |
| Waiting for DNS records (email) | MX, SPF or DKIM isn't visible yet. | Add/fix the records with a ✗ on Domain & email. |
| Email is working | Mail is delivered to your Sitesfare addresses. | Create addresses in the Mail tab. |
The website
"Points to right now: nothing yet" — the record isn't saved, is on the wrong name, or hasn't spread yet. Check the Host is www (not www.yourname.com when the registrar adds the domain itself) and that you pressed Save. Most registrars publish within minutes; a few take a couple of hours.
"Points to right now: A record …" — there's an A record for www. Delete it; a name can't have both an A and a CNAME.
"Points to something else" — an old CNAME (parking page, previous host) is still there. Edit it to domains.sitesfare.com.
Your DNS is on Cloudflare and nothing happens — the record must be DNS only (grey cloud). A proxied (orange) record hides the connection.
I connected yourname.com and it says www.yourname.com — on purpose. Add the CNAME for www, then forward yourname.com → https://www.yourname.com at your registrar (301).
It's been more than 24 hours — press Check again now on Domain & email. If the Live check shows the correct CNAME but it still isn't live, email support with your domain name.
Search results still show yourname.sitesfare.com — search engines take days to weeks to switch. Your pages already tell them the new address.
MX ✗ — the MX record must be mail.sitesfare.com, priority 10, Host @. Remove the registrar's default MX records (e.g. mx1.registrar.com, Google, Zoho), otherwise some mail keeps going there.
SPF ✗ — "there are two SPF records" — a domain may have only one TXT starting with v=spf1. Merge them: e.g. v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com mx a:mail.sitesfare.com ~all.
DKIM ✗ — check the Host is dkim._domainkey (not dkim._domainkey.yourname.com when the registrar adds the domain) and that the whole key was pasted, starting with v=DKIM1.
My mail goes to spam — make sure all three of MX, SPF and DKIM are ✓, add the DMARC record, and send a few normal messages before any large mailing. New domains need a little time to build a reputation.
"Email on yourname.com is paused" — the custom domain plan wasn't renewed, or email was switched off. Your mailboxes still work on their sitesfare.com addresses. Renew or switch it on again; nothing was deleted.
I already had contact@yourname.sitesfare.com — do I need a new mailbox? No. Once email is on for your domain, contact@yourname.com arrives in that same inbox and you send as it.
"This mailbox is not covered by your plan" — you have more addresses than your plan includes (for example a tool or Extra mailbox add-on ended). Mail still arrives; add the Extra mailbox add-on or the tool again to read and send.
I want to use Outlook / Gmail app / Apple Mail — today your Sitesfare mail is read and sent from the dashboard's Mail tab.
Still stuck?
Email support from your account's address with your website name and domain. Include a screenshot of your registrar's DNS page — it's the fastest way for us to spot the problem.
